Looking at the Beach

Posted by Susan (Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States) on 20 June 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

In Hollywood, Florida, there's a place they call the "Broadwalk"..... I was under the impression that it was like the Board Walk in Atlantic City, NJ, but was quite surprised to find it was nothing like AC.....It's just a long strip of pavement basically, that runs along the beach, and lots of people walk on it......in one section, there is a cement wall, for no apparent reason....but it has these openings in it.....too low to see thru if you're walking.....but always the inquisitive photographer, I had to kneel down and take a peek......this is the view I saw, thru that low hole.....

@ManuelaR: Thank you!!

Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United States

We've been seeing a commercial on TV for the Hollywood 'Broadwalk' and each time I hear it, I query myself about the word; now I know - thanks! Are the openings to reduce air pressure against the wall? They don't really look large enough for that, though.

@Judy: I think the holes are just decorarative....they don't seem to serve any purpose.....I would definitely NOT suggest a ride across the state for the Broadwalk.....I was quite disappointed when I finally went to check it out.....just pretty crummy!!

Terrific framing. There used to be a wonderful boardwalk along the beach at Daytona Beach. When I was in elementary school (and before), we went every summer.

@john4jack: The only thing I remember in Daytona as a kid, was driving on the beach in our little red convertible.....I thought my dad was the coolest thing around!!

Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United States

Great shot. Interesting perspective. One has to check out all angles.
Great HDR work earlier. And I like the Fractalius work also. Talk to you again. Hope all is well with you. Take care.

@Lee: Thanks much Lee.....fractalius may play a huge role this summer, since already, humidity is going to make it feel like 105 today....not much fun being outside!!
