Nature's SplendorPosted by Susan (Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States) on 22 May 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. To finish out the week, one more shot from my most favorite place to visit on the weekends, Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, FL. I can go for a few hours in the afternoon, and shoot 300-400 shots, and I'm lucky when I end up with one like this!! @Elora: Thank you!! Tony Duque from Raleigh, United StatesWonderful shot, Susan!... terrific color & detail. I've sure enjoyed this series and your visit to the archive, even if forced! Now, I know you'll pardon my ignorance if it's showing... at 238 mm, this shot was taken with a telephoto from close-up, rather than with a macro, right? 22 May 2009 1:34pm @Tony Duque: the old 70-300 telephoto i had (now in my brother's posession), and a built-in macro function, that you could switch to with a lock on the side of the lens.....hope that answers your question, cause technically, that's all i know!!! glad you liked this whole thing frm butterfly world....tomorrow starts things i've shot in the house in the past few days....purchased flowers...since I still can't go running around..... @BoB: Thanks much!!! Ravi from Bangalore, IndiaThis is splendid work. Great clarity details and stunning colors. Kudos, Susan! 22 May 2009 3:15pm @Ravi: Thanks so much Ravi......New stuff tomorrow!!! Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United StatesThis is a winner, Susan ... a marvelous shot in every way! 22 May 2009 4:47pm @Judy: Thanks much Judy....I really don't think it was anything i "did" that caused my problem....it seems I've had herniated disks for at least 4 years, they just never bothered me.....And I'm pretty certain that stress caused the disk to start being inflamed.....and I'm pretty sure that stress was caused by work, and unfortunately, that's where I will have to go back to, soon.....Hopefully, the stress level will have subsided.... marc battault from clermont ferrand, Franceit is beautiful on this red flower, susan, a beautiful and sweet butterfly macro! 22 May 2009 4:52pm @marc battault: Thanks so much Marc....appreciate your kindness.... @Marcus: Thanks much Marcus, for your visit and kind comment..... Leena from Joensuu, FinlandNow I am admiring so much your photo! I tried today to catch a first butterfly of this spring by my camera, but he was so thrilled, that he did not stay anywhere for me :) 22 May 2009 5:18pm @Leena: Yes, butterflies are not the easiest to catch....and i find they fly around more, when there's lots of sunlight..... @michelle: Thanks Michelle, appreciate your visit and comment.... @Graham Russon: Thanks Graham!! @Fliss: Thanks fliss!!! @Ben: thanks ben, appreciate your visit, and comment too!! willow from Chelsea, United StatesThat's not luck - it's skill! Your focus is impeccable and the colors - ooooooo! 23 May 2009 1:49am @willow: Not luck you say...... ummmmmm...well, maybe a little bit of luck???? thanks much Suzanne!!! Lee from Fort Frances Ontario, CanadaWow ! I know what you mean. An afternoon would not be long enough for me. 23 May 2009 4:10am @Lee: The only problem is, the butterflies are more abundant when the weather is warm and sunny....the best time is in the summer, and that's when you can only be out there for an hour or so, due to the extreme heat & humidity....seems that weather that butterflies love, is not so loved by us humans..... @jamesy: Thanks much Deb..... @Magda: thanks magda....glad you liked it!!! @dkc: Thanks very much D..... @Lila: Thanks!! |
