A Perigee MoonPosted by Susan (Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States) on 15 January 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Last weekend the full moon was at it's perigee. Perigee is when the moon is closest to the earth, due to it's elliptical orbit. So it appears larger than every other night of the year. It rose at about 5:25 that evening, and became the highlight of the sky. My job has made it impossible for me to comment on your shots during the day.....so even though I can respond to all your comments, I can't leave my own comments, until I get home!!! The nerve of them, ey????

@Suzanne: yup, it was a big one!! EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomI am insanely envious (in a pleasant way), as I've never yet managed to capture the moon as beautifully as this, Susan. Gorgeous 15 Jan 2009 1:48pm @EYES WIDE SHUT: Thanks so much for your kind words!!! I really appreciate it, coming from an excellent photog like you!!!! Nabeel from Lahore, PakistanOh how strange it looks like, Susan, have u done any editing on it as the surface of moon seem blurry. 15 Jan 2009 3:20pm @Nabeel: No editing at all, except for darkening the background....... Since it was hdr, there may have been a bit of movement between the exposures, which would cause the slight blur..... but I liked it this way, hence, the posting.. LeenaM from Joensuu, FinlandMagic ! 15 Jan 2009 9:08pm @LeenaM: Thanks much!!! glad you liked it!!! Nina from Hamburg, GermanyAbsolutely fantastic, what a wonderful photo of the moon... 15 Jan 2009 11:21pm @Nina: Thanks much for V & C!! @greg: thanks...glad ya liked it!! bridget from Western WA, United Statesthis is glorious - i saw that moon rising also - we like to find a good spot and watch the harvest moon rise over the mountains in September - it has that huge, golden/orange, close-enough-to-touch sense about it, and this was even bigger (it's a lot warmer in September though...) you tell such wonderful stories with your photos, also! 13 Feb 2009 7:21pm @bridget: Glad you liked this one..... and the thing I like about this blog, is you can let people know how and when you took the shot, and what it felt like, and meant to you...... |
